I have several interests to share through this blog including my love of needlework, quilting, cooking, and my pets, Molly and Butterscotch. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with adding to most of these areas over time. I hope you enjoy it.

2016-17 Picture Walk - Classes and Retreats

Last fall Janie and I went to our 4th Shepherd's Bush retreat.  The theme was Embrace the Journey.

We were in the track with Jeannette Douglas, Paulette Stewart and Blackbird Designs.  Here are the class pieces that we were presented with...

Jeanette Douglas

Plum Street Samplers - Paulette Stewart

Blackbird Designs

...and we received the extra chart for this sampler that compliments the pin cushion

So far I have stitched the Heritage Sampler from Plum Street and sent that off to Jill Rensel for framing.  Here is a sneak peek...I just love the frame they selected!!

...and I have also stitched the pin cushion but have not assembled it yet.

In April we went to Stitchville's Spring Fling for our 3rd retreat with the Minnesota gals.  Blackbird was the featured designer for 2017.  We painted heart shaped sewing treasure boxes and frames to compliment our pieces for the class.

...and we received the complimentary chart for this sampler that takes many of the motifs from the original antique sampler.
So far I have stitched the little sampler, but have not added it to the frame yet.

Later in April our local sampler guild hosted Betsy Morgan for three class - The Virgin Queen Sewing Wallet, Virgin Queen Stitching Pocket, and the Mexican Reticule.  So far I have finished the pre-stitched pieces from class...

I will post more tomorrow about vacationing, finishing some class projects, and creating a checklist.

Best Stitches,

  1. Wow, the Jeannette Douglas piece is to die for, lucky you. I love the top of the heart shaped box too, what a great idea.

  2. All great projects.
    Heritage Sampler is beautiful.
