I have several interests to share through this blog including my love of needlework, quilting, cooking, and my pets, Molly and Butterscotch. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with adding to most of these areas over time. I hope you enjoy it.

It's Been Awhile

I've been away from my blog for a few months and thought I had better do an update.  I has been a busy few months.  Being single again has been more of an adjustment that I thought it would be.  After my divorce in 1999, one of my Cardiac Rehab patients told me "Sue, the plane does not take off unless it has some place to land".  It is unfortunate that the same thing happened with this most recent long term relationship as well.  I thought I was doing really well to be able to trust and be in a long term relationship again after my divorce.  Unfortunately, the ending was the same and it makes one pause to think ~ what can I do differently to avoid the same mistake.  Being single in my 50's is very different from when I was almost 40.  At this point all I am doing is spending time getting to know myself again, staying busy with friends, working on projects, and planning for my future as a single woman.  Even though we were not married, we were a couple for a little over 10 years.  Being alone though, there is a sense of peace and calm I have not experienced for a very long time.  For that I am grateful

My Mary's Sampler version 2 turned out very nicely.  I am so pleased with this little free design that Paulette Stewart from Plum Street Samplers gave us last fall.  A friend of mine did hers with the darker linen that was another color palette suggested and it is even prettier than this as she selected a frame that made the piece really stand out.

Late last year I also finished the Mystery Sampler From La-D-Da, "Margaret Cottam".  I think this pattern was made available in 2011 as a 3-part mystery sampler using Weeks Dye Works linen and floss.

As my winter project, I pulled out a sampler that I bought a The Scarlet Letter about 15 years ago "The Letterndoek - A Sampler by IT Dated 1697".  The design is stitched on 35 count linen and finishes 21 3/4" x 9 3/4".  Here is a little snippet to share.  I just love the colors in this sampler.

As a small project I started this piece that will be a sewing case when my friend Janie had her hip surgery.  The blue and brown play so well together.  I think I have just the right fabric to go along with it.

In closing I thought I would share this picture of Molly's toys all grouped together.  She always goes to the door with a toy in her mouth and I make her drop them before she goes out so I don't have to go fetch them in the cold and the snow.  She has quite a pile going.  :)

I hope not to stay away quite so long.  Until next time.

Happy Stitching,
